This page is where I explain what that actually means in practice.
When I say "Travel Global, Live Local," I mean something specific: I don't think a trip should be measured only by what you saw, but by who you met, what you learned, and what you left behind — for better or worse.
That belief shapes how I actually build a trip, not just how I talk about it. It's why I choose independently owned hotels over international chains whenever the alternative exists, why I work with local guides who are from the places they're showing you rather than a call center abroad, and why part of my job — the part that never shows up in an itinerary — is finding out how a property or operator treats its staff, its neighbors, and its environment before I ever recommend it to a client.
I won't pretend every choice is perfect, or that this is the cheapest way to run a travel business. It's simply the way I think this work should be done.
A safari camp that funds anti-poaching efforts. A small-ship cruise instead of one that puts thousands of visitors on a fragile coastline at once. Choices made because they matter, not because they're trendy.
A cooking class in someone's home instead of a scripted show. A guide telling you about their own country, not reciting a script. Real conversation, not a transaction.
A family-run guesthouse instead of an international chain. A private guide who lives in the town you're visiting, not a corporate tour operator based somewhere else entirely.
Every trip starts with a conversation, gets built around your specific idea of a meaningful trip, and comes with full support before, during, and after you travel.
"Heather did an amazing job creating a trip of a lifetime for my husband and me, to celebrate our 50th anniversary. Her knowledge of partnerships for highly educational tours (e.g. of Normandy Beaches and Munich/Dachau) was exceptional. Her creativity of designing an itinerary that echoed my father's WWII service was remarkable. And her attention to every detail from selecting fabulous hotels to ensuring seamless travel and transfers was deeply appreciated by us, each and every day of our trip."
It starts with a real conversation — not a form. We talk about how you like to travel, what a meaningful trip looks like for you, and what this particular one needs to accomplish.
I build a custom itinerary around that conversation: private guides, independently owned stays, and experiences chosen for connection, not convenience. You review it, we refine it together, until it's exactly right.
Before you go, I make sure nothing catches you off guard: visa and document checklists, packing guidance built for your specific trip, and a pre-departure call to walk through what to expect. (Road trippers get one more perk — your custom playlist.)
Once it's approved, I handle every reservation, document, and detail behind the scenes — and I'm on call before, during, and after your trip. The only thing left for you to plan is what to pack.
While every itinerary is fully tailored, our services are thoughtfully structured to support different levels of travel, from focused planning to comprehensive, concierge-level design.
Each offering is built with the same attention to detail, allowing you to choose the level of support that best aligns with your plans
